Sheldon's Service Station, c 1920

George Sheldon constructed one of the first full service gas stations in La Mesa here on Lookout Avenue (La Mesa Boulevard) at 4th Street. A successful businessman, real estate developer and civic leader, Sheldon was also a charter Rotary Club of La Mesa member and served as La Mesa mayor from 1926-1930.

History plaques are a community service partnership between Rotary Club of La Mesa and La Mesa Historical Society.
